In advance of the Denso NHRA Sonoma Nationals Davis Motorsports and team owner Dustin Davis will host a special charity dinner event with the support of Phillips Connect on Thursday, July 21 at the Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. The dinner will celebrate the life and legacy of the late Eric Medlen with proceeds from ticket sales and donations going to the Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities to honor the spirit of the late Eric Medlen. Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour and meal as well as have an opportunity to share their favorite memories of Medlen, one of the rising stars of the NHRA.

“I have been a member at Santa Rosa for some time and it is a beautiful location to honor the memory of Eric Medlen,” said Davis. “I spoke with John Medlen about hosting an event to celebrate Eric and he was in full support, so I knew we were doing the right thing. Supporting a great organization like Speedway Children’s Charities is something we all know Eric would be excited about and I would like to also thank Phillips Connect for their support. We want to have an event that gives people the chance to honor Eric, tell some stories and remember what a great driver and person we lost but will never forget.”

Medlen, a native of Oakdale in the San Joaquin Valley, won the Funny Car title for John Force Racing at his home track in Sonoma in 2006. In 2007, he succumbed to injuries sustained from a testing accident. He is fondly remembered by friends and family for his joyous spirit and outgoing personality, as well as his love for fun and supporting children.

The evening at Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club will include a cocktail reception and plated dinner. Tickets for the evening are $200 per person or $1,600 per table and include wine/beer and dinner. All proceeds will go to the Sonoma chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities in honor of Medlen.

The charity dinner is one of many events lined up to kick-off to the NHRA Sonoma Nationals at Sonoma Raceway, July 22-24.  This year's event marks the series' 35th visit to the Sonoma Valley and will feature professional competition in the Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle classes.
