When Bill and Amy Lancaster, residents of Bristol, TN, began "Coats for Kids" they never dreamed of how successful the fundraiser would become.  This is the fifth year for the fundraiser and what a success it was.  Local businesses placed boxes at their location and asked for donations of new coats, and the coats would be given to children in need in the service area Speedway Children's Charites cover, northeast Tennessee and southwest Virginia.  After setbacks and medical issues, the Lancaster's weren't sure if they could handle the fundraiser this year but with help from friends and community businesses they did better than ever before, collecting 204 new coats.  Bill and Amy donated the coats on New Year's Eve to Claudia Byrd, Executive Director of Speedway Children's Charities. "God has blessed us with the generosity of family, friends, and strangers toward the cause. This year was tough but we did it!" said Bill Lancaster. Speedway Children's Charities is so appreciative of fantastic community members that have a heart for kids.  The coats were distributed to children in need covering the 16 counties we serve.
