Join us for our for Every Child, Every Family: A Foster Care Summit on Thursday, April 30 from 4p-7p at Bristol Motor Speedway.
STRONG Kids Foster Care Summit: This event is designed for individuals and families who are curious about foster parenting and want to learn more before making the decision to begin the process. Representatives from both the Tennessee Department of Children's Services and the Virginia Department of Social Services will provide an overview of foster parent requirements in each state.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet with private agencies that partner with both states to license and support foster families. Agency representatives will be available to answer questions about the foster care process, training requirements, and the support available to foster parents.
In addition, organizations that support foster families—such as Isaiah 117 House and Court Appointed Special Advocates—will be present to share ways community members can help children in foster care, even if they are not able to foster themselves.
There will also be a panel of current foster parents and former foster children to answer questions about their experiences with the foster care system in each state.
Whether you are ready to start the process or simply exploring the idea, this event is a great opportunity to gather information, ask questions, and connect with agencies and community partners.
