PB Choppers Continues NASCAR Connection
Monday, April 24, 2006
FT. WORTH, Texas (April 8, 2006) - What began as an idea and then grew into a dream has now become reality for PB Choppers of Moravia, Iowa. This weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, the custom bike builder is unveiling the first of 100 "Rusty's Last Call" commemorative bikes to honor retired NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace.
With its Texas announcement, PB Choppers extends its NASCAR connection. It was just last month that the company donated a chopper to Speedway Children's Charities. That custom bike is currently touring Speedway Motorsports tracks, including TMS, where fans can purchase $5 raffle tickets for the drawing that will take place right back here at Texas Motor Speedway in November.
The series of "Rusty's Last Call" custom bikes salutes the driver's 2005 retirement tour. PB Choppers owner Jim Wubben was looking for a special way to honor his favorite driver's legendary career.
"The design of Rusty's bike is a tribute to his status as a legend, a true champion, a winner and one of the most down-to-earth people I have ever met," said Wubben, who - with his son Shaun - owns PB Choppers. "When a friend of mine suggested contacting Rusty, I never thought I'd get a phone call back from him and get the opportunity to build this bike.
"One day, the phone rings at the shop and my daughter says, 'Dad, Rusty Wallace would like to talk to you.' So I thought to myself, 'OK, I'll bite.' She handed me the phone and this voice said, 'Hi, Jim. This is Rusty Wallace and I understand we're going to build some motorcycles.' That was a magical moment for me!"
The bikes will be autographed by Rusty and numbered 1-100. Each custom-built motorcycle costs $100,000. Customers will receive an autographed plaque with the bike number and a picture of the motorcycle. Since the bikes are individually made, the process from start to finish takes approximately six weeks to complete. The bikes can be purchased directly from PB CHOPPERS through its web site - www.pbchoppers.com - or sales department.
"I knew the minute I heard this idea about custom bike building that I wanted to be involved in the project," Wallace said. "After speaking with Jim (Wubben), I was ready to see the first bike and it has exceeded my expectations. It's beautiful."
PB Choppers is an award-winning shop dedicated to crafting the world's finest custom bikes that exceed the dreams and expectations of motorcycle lovers everywhere.
