Carl Edwards Named National Spokesperson for Speedway Children's Charities
Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford Fusion, will serve as the 2012 national spokesperson for Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC), marking the fourth consecutive year in which he has held the position.
“I’m humbled to be the national spokesperson for Speedway Children’s Charities again this year,” said Edwards. “I am amazed every year at the number of great supporters and people who donate to this wonderful cause. I hope this year we can do as much as we’ve been able to do in the past, and I really look forward to it.”
Last year, with the help of Edwards as spokesperson, SCC was able to give $2.5 million to more than 350 non-profit organizations.
Edwards, who began as national spokesperson for SCC in 2008, will continue to participate in a variety of charitable events benefiting SCC and bring awareness to the organization through various media opportunities.
There are SCC chapters at eight Speedway Motorsports, Inc., facilities: Atlanta Motor Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Infineon Raceway, Kentucky Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. Throughout the year, SCC will host a number of charitable events at each track. For a complete list of events visit www.speedwaycharities.org/events.
